I started go-go dancing the day after my 18th birthday and fell in love with it. I traveled the country working at almost every gay bar and major gay event in the United States. That’s what built my love for people and community.

During my go-go years, I fell in love with traveling and started going abroad. I’ve now been to more than 15 countries, and everywhere I went, I noticed how differently people dress. That pushed me to teach myself to sew, so I could make my own outfits for red carpets and big events.

I’ve always set big goals for myself. I’d opened three businesses before, but none got me where I wanted to go, until I found a real gap in gay underwear and swimwear: true inclusivity. That became the foundation of Helio Menswear, my bread and butter, and I’ve self-funded it with over $200K. I work 12–15 hour days, seven days a week, to keep Helio running, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
